How an On-Demand Print Shop Works, From File to Finished Job

How an On-Demand Print Shop Works, From File to Finished Job

Trade printing was built around long runs. You ask for a quote, wait for someone to work it out by hand, and then order more than you need because the per-piece price only becomes reasonable at a few thousand. On-demand production inverts that: the job is priced and scheduled the moment you configure it, and the run is whatever you actually need.

The price is settled before you order

Every product in the catalogue is configured on its own page — size, stock, finish, quantity — and the price updates as you choose. There is no quote to wait for and no phone call to make for a standard job. The figure you check out against is recalculated from those selections rather than carried over from the screen, so the price you were shown and the price you are charged cannot drift apart.

Nothing is printed before a proof is approved

Artwork goes through a proof step before production starts, so problems are caught on screen instead of on a pallet of finished work. If you do not have a file yet, the design studio lays one out in the browser at the right size, with bleed and safety guides drawn on the canvas, and the template library starts you from an editable layout instead of a blank page.

Rush work does not need a long run

Because jobs are produced on demand rather than batched, a rush turnaround is a scheduling decision rather than a production compromise: twenty-four hours on the products that support it, under the same quality guarantee as a standard order.

Everything is produced in-house in Sun Valley, California, for businesses across Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, and shipped nationwide. Questions about files, stocks, turnaround and shipping are answered on the FAQ page.
