Certificates template

Rule stack · Music & nightlife

Horizontal rules as steps of hierarchy — an editorial index, a menu, a price list.

Set in Deco wide on the Music & nightlife palette — a vintage pairing drawn for arts & culture. The canvas is 11 × 8.5", the trim size the press cuts to, with the bleed and the safety margin already in place.

What you can change

Everything. The template opens as ordinary layers — headline, supporting lines, contacts, rules and blocks of colour — so you rewrite the words, swap the palette for your own brand colours, drop your logo in place of the mark, and move anything that sits wrong. The placeholder wording is deliberately the length of real copy, so a layout that holds here holds with your text too.

When it looks right, the artwork travels with you to Certificates or any other certificates in the catalogue, where stock, quantity and turnaround are priced live. We proof every job in Sun Valley before it goes on press.

How this file has to be built

Bleed 0.125" · safety 0.125"
Backgrounds run 0.125" past the cut line so trimming never opens a white sliver; anything that must survive stays 0.125" inside it. The studio canvas is the cut line itself — magenta edge — and the dashed guide inside it is the safety margin.
300 DPI at final size
Small format is read at arm's length, so photos and logos need the full 300. One side or both, your choice at checkout.
Foil mask · Raised spot UV mask
These ride as separate masks, not as part of the artwork: 100% black where the layer lands, white where it does not. Design the ink in the studio and send the mask alongside it.
  • · Decorative borders sit on the trim line — the safety margin is what keeps them even after cutting.
  • · A foil or raised-UV seal needs its own 100% K mask file: black where the finish lands.
  • · Leave the recipient name and date as editable fields if you plan to fill them by hand.

Certificates questions

Why do borders drift on printed certificates?
Because a border drawn exactly on the trim line has nowhere to go when the sheet shifts a hair in the cutter. Give the border its own margin inside the safety line and it stays even on every copy.
Can I add a gold seal?
Yes — certificates support foil and raised spot UV. Design the ink layer in the studio and send the seal as a separate 100% black mask.
