How we handle reviews
Last updated July 2026
We publish every review a customer leaves, one star to five. We never remove one for being negative, and we never hold one back because of its rating. This page says exactly how the process works, so you can hold us to it.
Who can leave a review
Only a customer whose order has actually shipped. The right to review comes from your order record, not from a checkbox — so every review on this site is from someone who paid for the thing they are describing. Members of our own team cannot review our shop; that is a rule of the Federal Trade Commission about undisclosed connections, and we enforce it in the code.
What happens when you press Post
Most reviews go live immediately. Some are held briefly for a person to read — if the text contains profanity or slurs, someone else's phone number, email or address, card or invoice numbers, links, or is written entirely in capitals. A hold is a place in a queue, not a verdict. Whatever the rating, a held review publishes automatically within 48 hours. There is no job to forget and no switch to leave off: the deadline is part of the query that decides what is public, so doing nothing publishes everything.
Ratings do not affect publication
A low rating changes exactly two things: the review moves to the top of the owner's queue, and he gets an email telling him it is already live so he can reply. It does not delay publication, it does not affect the average we display, and it is not a reason to remove anything. Our own dashboard shows submitted-versus-published counts for every star, so a gap would be visible to us before it was visible to anyone else.
The only reasons a review is not published
Eight, and they are the grounds the FTC allows: obscene or abusive content; another person's private information; attacks on a protected characteristic; confidential or payment data; content that is clearly false or misleading; content we reasonably believe is fake; content unrelated to a product we sell; and an undisclosed connection to our business. If we do not publish your review you are told which one applies, in plain English, and you can write back and challenge it. A rating is never a reason.
Our replies
We answer publicly under the review, at any rating. We will not dispute your facts by threatening you, and we will not ask you to change or remove what you wrote in exchange for anything.
Your words stay yours
You keep ownership of what you write. Posting gives us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and excerpt your review on this site — nothing more. You are free to post the same review anywhere else. We do not ask anyone to sign a non-disparagement clause; such clauses are void, and in California offering one carries penalties.
Withdrawing, changing your mind, and your picture
You can withdraw your own review at any time from your account — we cannot do it for you, so every withdrawal in our records is provably yours. You cannot edit the original text, but you can append a follow-up: what you thought then and what you think now both stay visible. Your display name and picture are your choice, and you can push an updated picture onto reviews you have already published.
What we store
The review, your rating, the order it belongs to, your chosen display name and picture. We never store your email address, phone number or IP address on a review row. If you delete your account, your ratings stay — removing them would move our published average for a reason that has nothing to do with moderation — but your name and picture are replaced with "Verified customer".
Ratings we publish elsewhere
The star rating shown in Google results comes from the same set of published reviews as the page you are reading, computed by rounding down, never up. If a product has fewer than three ratings we publish no rating at all rather than a number that would swing wildly.
