✦ Saddle-Stitch Booklets template
Haloed badge · Childcare
A seal in the centre: concentric rings, a word inside, micro-captions around the edge.
Set in Newsroom on the Childcare palette — an editorial pairing drawn for schools & tutoring. The canvas is 8.5 × 5.5", the trim size the press cuts to, with the bleed and the safety margin already in place.

What you can change
Everything. The template opens as ordinary layers — headline, supporting lines, contacts, rules and blocks of colour — so you rewrite the words, swap the palette for your own brand colours, drop your logo in place of the mark, and move anything that sits wrong. The placeholder wording is deliberately the length of real copy, so a layout that holds here holds with your text too.
When it looks right, the artwork travels with you to Rack Cards or any other saddle-stitch booklets in the catalogue, where stock, quantity and turnaround are priced live. We proof every job in Sun Valley before it goes on press.
How this file has to be built
- Bleed 0.125" · safety 0.125"
- Backgrounds run 0.125" past the cut line so trimming never opens a white sliver; anything that must survive stays 0.125" inside it. The studio canvas is the cut line itself — magenta edge — and the dashed guide inside it is the safety margin.
- 300 DPI at final size
- Small format is read at arm's length, so photos and logos need the full 300. Both sides print — design them as two different pages.
- Foil mask · Raised spot UV mask
- These ride as separate masks, not as part of the artwork: 100% black where the layer lands, white where it does not. Design the ink in the studio and send the mask alongside it.
- · Page count must be a multiple of four — the catalogue sells 8 to 52 pages.
- · Sizes are the finished (folded) page, not the flat spread.
- · Keep type 0.25 in clear of the spine: thicker booklets creep, and the inner pages trim narrower than the outer ones.

- Why does the page count have to be a multiple of four?
- Because one folded sheet makes four pages. A saddle-stitch booklet is a stack of folded sheets stapled through the spine, so 8, 12, 16 and so on are the only counts that come out even.
- Is the size the folded page or the open spread?
- The folded page. An 8.5 × 5.5 booklet is printed on 11 × 8.5 sheets and folded — you design pages, we impose them.
