Four different products get called "a window sticker" and they behave nothing alike. Opaque adhesive vinyl is the workhorse: full colour, blocks the view, goes on the outside. Clear film keeps the daylight but turns every colour into a tint unless a White layer is printed underneath it. Frosted etch prints as one frosted tone, so it works as a silhouette and fails completely as a photograph. Perforated film is roughly half holes — customers see out, passers-by see your graphic, and anything thinner than about an inch disappears.
Pick the film before you pick the design. A layout built as a bold two-colour shape can be moved onto any of the four; a layout built around a photograph of your product can only ever be printed on opaque vinyl, and that means giving up the window light.
Hours, and the rest of the small print
The single most-read piece of glass in retail is the hours panel, and it is almost always the worst-set thing on the storefront: a printout taped inside, sun-bleached, with last Christmas still on it. Set it once at eight to ten inches wide, in a face with real numerals, on second-surface clear film so the glass protects the ink from the sidewalk.
Around it goes everything a stranger needs before entering: card brands accepted, whether dogs are welcome, the delivery hours, the phone number for the florist's wire service. It costs one decal and it stops a dozen questions a week. Check your lease and your city's window-coverage rule before you commit to a full-glass graphic — many storefronts are capped on how much of the window may be covered.
The five decals most shops end up ordering

- Hours and contact panel, clear second-surface film, on the door glass.
- Logo or shop name, opaque or frosted, centred on the main window at eye height.
- Seasonal offer, opaque vinyl, sized to be replaced four times a year and thrown away.
- Perforated graphic for the sun-facing window that also has to keep the room usable.
- Floor graphic inside the door, with the slip-resistant laminate, pointing at the counter.
What glass graphics cost
Priced per piece at your finished size, so a storefront is usually three or four separate decals rather than one large one. The ladder below is a door-sized clear decal at each quantity.

Questions we get asked
- How do I measure the glass?
- Measure the pane, then take an inch off each side. Storefront glass sits in a frame with a rubber gasket, and vinyl will not stick to the gasket — a decal cut to the full pane measurement lifts at the edges within a week.
- Inside or outside the glass?
- Inside wherever you can. Second-surface printing puts the glass between the ink and the weather, the sun and anyone with a fingernail. We mirror the artwork for you, so send the file reading correctly.
- Will a decal come off without wrecking the paint?
- On glass, yes — heat it with a hair dryer and peel slowly. The low-tack vinyl is the one to ask for if the graphic is seasonal and comes down four times a year; the standard adhesive is built to stay.
- Can I put a photograph on perforated film?
- You can print it, but you will not recognise it. Perf is half holes, so faces and fine gradients dissolve. Use flat colour, heavy type and shapes wider than an inch.
