The card body is 16PT coated stock, sealed under gloss or matte lamination as thick as 10 mil, which is what stands up to being clipped on and worn on a lanyard every day. Options include an oblong slot, a retractable clip, and variable data, which drops each name and photo onto the correct badge. Ten is the smallest run we take. Yes — that's a variable data run. Send one spreadsheet with each person's name, title, department and ID number, plus a folder of photos named to match a column in that sheet, and we merge everything into the badge template. Sequential ID numbers, QR codes and barcodes can be generated for you. We proof the first few records for approval before the whole batch prints.
Straight-on headshots, evenly lit, against a plain light wall, with the head and shoulders filling the frame — at least 600 x 600 pixels. Phone photos are fine if they're sharp and not backlit; a bright window behind the person is the usual reason a badge photo prints as a silhouette. Send them as JPG or PNG, one file per employee, and skip heavy filters since color correction on faces is limited once the file is compressed.
We print the visible badge — the artwork, photo, name and any printed barcode or QR code. We do not program magnetic stripes, HID proximity credentials or smart chips; that encoding belongs to whoever manages your access control or time clock system. If you already have blank encoded cards from that vendor, send them to us and we'll print your design directly onto them. Reordering single badges for new hires is no problem once your template is on file.
