What Standard Poster Size Should You Choose?

What Standard Poster Size Should You Choose?

A standard poster size is commonly 24 × 36 inches, although no single size fits every display. Other common choices include 18 × 24, 20 × 30 and 36 × 48 inches. The standard modern U.S. movie one-sheet measures 27 × 40 inches. Start with your display space. Your finished sheet needs to fit the frame and leave enough room for the message.

What is poster size, and how do you measure it?

Poster size means the finished sheet’s width and height. An 18 × 24-inch portrait poster is 18 inches wide and 24 inches high; turn it horizontally and it becomes 24 inches wide by 18 inches high. Check both measurements before ordering.

Measure the display area first. For a framed poster, check the specified print size and visible opening, since the outer frame dimensions don’t tell you which sheet fits. Frame edges may cover some artwork. Keep text clear of them.

What is an average poster size for your display?

There is no universal average poster size. For a typical promotional poster, 24 × 36 inches is a practical starting point. That’s 2 feet by 3 feet, and it’s the default size in all three featured Angels Print product configurators.

For close viewing in a smaller space, consider 18 × 24 inches. A larger wall may suit 36 × 48 inches. Mark out the dimensions first. A laptop preview cannot show the sheet’s physical footprint or tell you how crowded the message will feel on the wall.

Which standard poster size should you choose?

Angels Print lists five preset sizes for Single Premium Posters and Laminated Poster, plus Custom Size. Match the dimensions to your frame and viewing distance before building the layout.

18 × 24 inches is the smallest preset on these two products. It suits compact displays read at close range. Keep supporting copy short. There’s less room here than on a 24 × 36-inch sheet.

20 × 30 inches has the same 2:3 proportions as 24 × 36 inches. Scaling between them preserves the layout’s shape, though reducing the design also makes the text smaller.

24 × 36 inches gives promotional artwork a familiar format. Measure beyond the sheet itself. Your display needs room for the full 2-by-3-foot print and any frame around it.

27 × 40 inches is the modern U.S. movie one-sheet format and a preset for both premium and laminated posters. Older or other movie prints can have different dimensions, so measure the actual print before buying its frame.

36 × 48 inches gives a headline or image more physical room. Its 3:4 proportions match 18 × 24 inches. A design made for 24 × 36 inches has a different shape and may need rearranging.

Will your artwork fit the poster size you want?

Size and proportions are different. An 18 × 24-inch design cannot fill a 24 × 36-inch sheet through proportional scaling alone. Revise the layout, allow unprinted space or deliberately crop the composition. Stretching it will distort the artwork.

Plan any crop before uploading. A photograph may tolerate losing background, but a border or text near the edge may not. Inspect resized files even when the proportions match: reduced text can become hard to read, while enlarged images may lose sharpness.

Which paper and finish should you order?

Single Premium Posters offers 8Mil PrimeArt Poster Paper or 3.5Mil 80# Poster Paper, with a no-lamination option. Matte and gloss lamination are listed for 8Mil PrimeArt. Check your chosen material first.

The Laminated Poster uses 8Mil PrimeArt Poster Paper, with Matte, Gloss and Dry Erase lamination choices. Think about the display lighting. Gloss can reflect direct light noticeably; matte generally reduces surface glare.

The Wheat Paste Poster offers Custom Size with 28# Bond Paper, 80# Coated Front, Uncoated Back, or 30# Kraft Paper. Choose for the intended application. Another product’s finish options may not apply, and all three featured configurators list front-only printing.

When should you enter a custom poster size?

Use custom dimensions for a frame or display that falls outside the presets. Enter the finished dimensions in inches. Don’t enlarge the ordered sheet to account for an assumed bleed; follow the selected product’s artwork instructions separately.

Check the size limits carefully. Single Premium Posters lists widths from 12 to 48 inches and heights from 18 to 240 inches. Laminated Poster and Wheat Paste Poster list maximum widths of 48 inches and maximum heights of 240 inches. Ask about minimum dimensions if needed.

Input limits don’t confirm that every material and finish works at every size. Confirm the full configuration before preparing the file. Comparing a poster with a freestanding display? See what a 3ft SEG fabric stand fits.

What affects your poster price and quantity?

Dimensions, material, finishing and quantity affect the selected configuration’s price. Compare the options you’ll actually order. A starting price isn’t a quote for every size; the price shown at checkout is final for your selected configuration.

Single Premium Posters and Laminated Poster offer quantity choices from 1 through 100. Wheat Paste Poster extends through 500. Not every number is selectable. Single Premium Posters also lists Single Posters (Premium) and Bulk Posters (25 and over) as type options.

Production choices are Rush · 1–2 business days (default), Express · 5 business days and Standard · 10 business days. Manufacturing starts immediately after payment. Production time is independent of quantity, and delivery takes additional time.

How should you prepare your poster file before ordering?

Set the document to the intended finished dimensions, then follow the product’s file-type, bleed and safe-area requirements. A print-ready PDF can be useful. Missing a requirement? Ask before exporting the file.

Check image resolution at final print size. Enlarging an image spreads its pixels over a bigger area; changing the resolution label alone adds no detail. Review spelling and small text, then inspect edge placement and any planned crop.

An upload or preview does not confirm production readiness. A digital proof by email is available on request, but manufacturing starts immediately after payment. Screen colors can differ from print. Request a hard proof for critical color.
