A badge is read across a handshake, so the name is the design and everything else is trim. The tall 3.5 × 5.5 inch badge is the conference format that hangs from a lanyard; 2 × 3.5 is the credit-card-shaped employee ID. Both print on 16 pt coated stock and both need clear space at the top for the punch or slot.

100 starting layouts, drawn for 3.5 × 5.5"
Each one opens in the studio as editable layers. The wording is a placeholder — replace it with yours and the layout holds.

Sizes we print
2 sizes in 2 proportions — a layout survives a change of size, not a change of proportion, which is why the grid above is drawn for the size marked below.

How this file has to be built
- Bleed 0.125" · safety 0.125"
- Backgrounds run 0.125" past the cut line so trimming never opens a white sliver; anything that must survive stays 0.125" inside it. The studio canvas is the cut line itself — magenta edge — and the dashed guide inside it is the safety margin.
- 300 DPI at final size
- Small format is read at arm's length, so photos and logos need the full 300. One side or both, your choice at checkout.
- · Leave the top 0.5 in clear — a lanyard slot or hole is punched there.
- · Set the name at 24 pt or larger on the lanyard badge; it has to be legible at arm's length.
- · Names and roles are usually variable data: design one layout and supply the list when you order.
What it costs printed
Prices are the catalogue entry point for each item, computed by the same engine that charges at checkout. Stock, finish, size and quantity move the number — the configurator on each page shows it live.
ID Badges & Name Tags questions
- How large should the name be?
- Large enough to read from about four feet — in practice 24 pt or more on the 3.5 × 5.5 badge. Company name and role can be half that; nobody squints for those.
- Can every badge carry a different name?
- Yes. Badges support variable data: design one layout here and send the roster as a spreadsheet with your order.
