Postcards templates
The postcard is the workhorse of the catalogue: the same trim covers a mailer, a handout, a menu insert and a full-page flyer. Every size below is a real option in the configurator, and the layouts respect the address side — if you are mailing, the right-hand third of the back has to stay clear for the indicia and the barcode.
100 starting layouts, drawn for 4 × 6"
Each one opens in the studio as editable layers. The wording is a placeholder — replace it with yours and the layout holds.

Sizes we print
10 sizes in 7 proportions — a layout survives a change of size, not a change of proportion, which is why the grid above is drawn for the size marked below.

How this file has to be built
- Bleed 0.125" · safety 0.125"
- Backgrounds run 0.125" past the cut line so trimming never opens a white sliver; anything that must survive stays 0.125" inside it. The studio canvas is the cut line itself — magenta edge — and the dashed guide inside it is the safety margin.
- 300 DPI at final size
- Small format is read at arm's length, so photos and logos need the full 300. One side or both, your choice at checkout.
- Foil mask · Raised spot UV mask
- These ride as separate masks, not as part of the artwork: 100% black where the layer lands, white where it does not. Design the ink in the studio and send the mask alongside it.
- · Direct-mail sizes have to leave the address block and postal barcode clear — the studio's back-side templates already reserve it.
- · Uncoated stock absorbs more ink: heavy solid backgrounds read a shade darker than on coated.
What it costs printed
Prices are the catalogue entry point for each item, computed by the same engine that charges at checkout. Stock, finish, size and quantity move the number — the configurator on each page shows it live.
Postcards questions
- Which sizes can actually be mailed?
- 4 × 6, 4.25 × 5.5, 5 × 7, 5.5 × 8.5, 6 × 9 and 4.25 × 11 are the standard USPS card and flat sizes. The square 4 × 4 and 6 × 6 cards are non-machinable and cost more to mail, so they are better handed out than posted.
- Do I have to print the back?
- No. Front-only is cheaper and common for handouts. If you are mailing, you need the back for the address panel, so print both sides.
- Is 8.5 × 11 a postcard or a flyer?
- It is the same trim; the difference is stock. On card stock it is an oversized mailer, on text weight it is a flyer. Both are ordered from the postcard configurator.
