Canvas Prints templates
A gallery wrap loses artwork to the sides of the frame: on a stretched canvas roughly 1.5 inches of every edge folds around the bars and faces the wall. These layouts hold the subject well inside that wrap and let the background run off. Framed wraps keep the face flat but add a moulding that overlaps the outer edge.
100 starting layouts, drawn for 8 × 10"
Each one opens in the studio as editable layers. The wording is a placeholder — replace it with yours and the layout holds.

Sizes we print
9 sizes in 4 proportions — a layout survives a change of size, not a change of proportion, which is why the grid above is drawn for the size marked below.

How this file has to be built
- Bleed 0.125" · safety 0.125"
- Backgrounds run 0.125" past the cut line so trimming never opens a white sliver; anything that must survive stays 0.125" inside it. The studio canvas is the cut line itself — magenta edge — and the dashed guide inside it is the safety margin.
- 150 DPI at final size
- Large format is read from a distance, so 150 DPI in size is the honest number — more is wasted file, not sharper print. Printed on one side.
- Keep 2" clear of the edge
- Grommets, pole pockets, hems and frame lips all eat the border. Type that close is hidden by the hardware, not by the press.
- · A stretched wrap folds roughly 1.5 in of every edge onto the sides of the frame — keep faces and text 2 in inside.
- · Canvas texture softens fine detail; hairlines below 1 pt disappear into the weave.
What it costs printed
Prices are the catalogue entry point for each item, computed by the same engine that charges at checkout. Stock, finish, size and quantity move the number — the configurator on each page shows it live.
Canvas Prints questions
- How much of my photo wraps around the edge?
- About an inch and a half on every side. Anything closer than two inches to the edge — a face, a horizon line, a signature — ends up on the side of the frame or hidden against the wall.
- Framed or unframed?
- An unframed gallery wrap is the modern look and needs no glass. A framed wrap adds a moulding around the canvas, protects the corners, and suits a more traditional room.
