Label and sticker templates for food packaging and takeout
A food label has to do a job no other sticker does: stay stuck to a cold, damp, greasy or curved surface while somebody carries it across town in a paper bag. Half the labelling problems that come through our shop are not design problems at all — they are a paper label put on a container that came out of a refrigerator.

Adhesive first, artwork second
Vinyl with a permanent adhesive holds on cold glass and plastic; paper stock does not, and a label that lifts at one corner in the walk-in will be fully curled by the time it reaches a customer. If the container goes into a fridge before it goes into a bag, apply the label at room temperature and let it sit for a few hours before chilling — adhesive needs time to key to the surface.
Curved surfaces have their own rule. A label wider than about a third of the circumference of a jar will tent along its long edge; on a coffee cup, which is a cone rather than a cylinder, a rectangular label always wrinkles at the top. Use a circle or a shallow oval on cups, and cut jar labels narrower than instinct suggests.
Tamper seals and the takeout bag
The delivery seal is now the most-printed sticker in food service, and it is doing two things: showing the bag was not opened, and being the last piece of branding the customer touches. A two-inch circle across the fold of a paper bag is the standard; make it matte, because a gloss seal on a paper bag photographs as a glare spot and half your customers photograph the bag.
If you sell packaged food made in a home kitchen, California's cottage food rules require specific wording on the label — the operation's name and registration or permit number, the "Made in a Home Kitchen" statement, the ingredient list in descending order by weight and the common allergens. The labels a kitchen keeps reordering
Five stickers, and the one thing each one has to get right.
- Tamper seal for delivery bags — two inches, matte, across the fold.
- Jar and deli-container label — narrow enough not to tent, with the ingredient block.
- Date and prep label for the walk-in — plain, cheap, printed on a sheet, thrown away daily.
- Coffee cup sticker — round, not rectangular, or it wrinkles on the cone.
- "Keep refrigerated" and allergen flags — one colour, unmissable, never decorative.
What labels cost

Questions we get asked
- Will a printed label survive the fridge?
- On vinyl with a permanent adhesive, yes — applied at room temperature and given a few hours before it is chilled. Applied to a cold, damp container it will lift, and no amount of pressing fixes it afterwards.
- Are these labels food-safe?
- They are food-contact-adjacent, not food-contact: they go on the outside of a container, never on the food or on a surface the food touches. That is the normal arrangement for jar, bag and cup labelling.
- Do the cottage-food label requirements fit on a small sticker?
- Yes, but not on a two-inch circle. Use a rectangle of at least 3 × 2 inches so the ingredient list stays at a legible size, and keep the required statements in solid black rather than in a brand colour.
- Clear or white stock?
- White for anything with an ingredient list — legibility wins. Clear looks better on glass, but on clear film every colour needs a White layer printed under it or the design turns into a tint of whatever is behind it.
